First divisional matchup for Kennedy. The girls team was missing 3 starters of whom 2 were singles players. Kennedy girls showed so much heart and character and a some of the matches hinged on a few pivotal points that could have gone either way. Sophomore Francesca had a tough matchup but she will learn from this match going forward. Safiya played a great second set after a difficult first one, coming within a few points of taking it to a third set. Sophomore Tina lost in 2 close tiebreaks but she showed so much poise and fight in her matchup against a more experienced opponent. Ashley lost 6-4 in the third set. She played a massive match but fell just short. Sophomore Gabriella and freshman Hannah got Kennedy’s first match win of the season, dominating the last 2 sets of their doubles matchup. Riley and Kathy, played a great first set but lost out against opponents who started clicking in sets 2 and 3. At 3 doubles K’Lor and Ericha achieved a great victory. After dropping the first set, K’Lor and Ericha found their groove and never looked back. They closed out sets 2 and 3 like a pair of seasoned veterans, making their coach immensely proud. They managed to finish the match just in time with the backdrop of fading light adding to the drama of the moment.
